From the time I was little, I devoured books. My childhood is filled with wonderful memories of escaping to Narnia, fighting Ms. Trunchbull with Matilda, and crying at the deaths of Dan and Little Ann. Now, as an adult, I want to pass on the magic of reading to my two children.
The idea for this blog came from my daughter, my avid reader and resident mini-me. Like her Mama, she likes to gush over what she is reading, and we often share what is happening in our books. She looked up at me one day and said, “Mommy, I want to be in a Book Club like you. Can we create a Book Club for you, me, and Daddy?” Then, she ran over to our bookcase and began choosing a book. Who can say no to that?
As you are reading my book notes, please note that I am NOT an educator by trade, and these notes are the result of my thought and my own research. I am a public relations specialist who specializes in social media management. Most of my career has been spent in public relations and marketing departments for various zoos, which seems fitting considering that I wanted to be zookeeper and a news anchor when I was a kid (I guess I combined those dreams!). I recently left a marketing position with the US Air Force where I spread the word about USAF morale, welfare, and recreation programs to military families. After a cross-country move, I will be embarking on a new adventure– homeschooling my two children.
My family and I are unapologetic believers in our Lord and Creator, Jesus Christ. While most of the book choices on this site are secular, I also include some that are faith-based. At the end of the day, this life is not for us, but for Him. If you are curious about learning more about the love of Christ, http://www.life.church is a great place to start.
